We monitor the Microsoft partner ecosystem, so you don't have to.
Microsoft's fiscal year ends in a couple of days: July 1 lands in 48 hours, and it brings a price increase, two permanent SKUs, and a restructured SMB Copilot motion, all at once. If you haven't closed the renewals, the cert audits, and the pipeline acceleration plays that the last few weeks have been pointing toward, the window is still open, but barely.
We're sharing what our clients are watching going into FY27, DM if you want the deep dive with resources you can use today.
- TOMORROW JUNE 30: Certification retirements take effect, and the AI-era credentialing system goes live. Tomorrow, a significant set of Solutions Partner designation certifications officially retire and are replaced by AI-aligned credentials. Skilling achieved before a cert retires remains valid for one year, so existing credentialed team members aren't immediately at risk. The problem is new partners pursuing these designations, and clients whose upcoming renewals depend on credential counts that assumed the old cert list. Tomorrow is the cutover so if you haven't audited your team and client partner profiles, do it today.
- JULY 1: M365 pricing increases across every tier: the last day to lock in current pricing is June 30. The global Microsoft 365 pricing and packaging update takes effect Wednesday. This is the first major M365 price change since March 2022 and it applies across Enterprise, Business, Frontline, and Government commercial equivalents in all channels. Any customer renewal you close today still lands at current pricing. Any renewal you close Wednesday does not. The urgency is real and it's the kind of urgency customers respond to as they have a concrete reason to act now that doesn't require a sales narrative.
- JULY 1: M365 Business with Copilot becomes a permanent catalog item and the SMB motion changes. On the same day, the promotional M365 Business Standard with Copilot and Business Premium with Copilot offers transition to permanent SKUs alongside multiple other SKUs with no license minimums on the promos. What changes in practice is the sales motion as Copilot is no longer a time-limited upsell that requires a promo window conversation. Partners who update their proposals, websites, and renewal templates before Wednesday will have a head start on the FY27 SMB motion.
- THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30: M365 Copilot 15% off on three-year commitments. Since June 1, partners have been able to offer 15% off the net partner price for M365 Copilot on three-year commitments of 300 or more license, worldwide, through CSP, through September 30.
- Partner of the Year and FY27 kickoffs: Mark your calendars for upcoming announcements as FY27 kicks off, and don't forget to apply for Partner of the Year. Winners are announced at Ignite 2026.
The bigger picture
FY26 closes in less than 48 hours with the highest single-month change density the partner program has seen in years.
- The cert system gets rebuilt around AI credentials.
- The pricing model resets for the first time since 2022.
- The SMB Copilot motion moves from promotional to structural.
What that combination signals for FY27 is that Microsoft has moved past the "AI pilot" era and is now asking whether partners can operationalize AI at scale, in their own practices and in their clients' tenants. The partners who enter July with clean credential portfolios, closed renewals, and Copilot attach built into their default offer motion are starting FY27 from the right position. The ones who are still sorting out the cert retirements in August are already behind.
