We monitor the Microsoft ecosystem, so you don't have to.

There was a lot going on last week, with Microsoft dropping breadcrumbs on where they're taking Copilot, continuing to roll out partner programs under a single new banner, removing roadblocks to Microsoft Marketplace procurement, aligning incentives with the areas it wants to drive adoption on, and doubling down on AI for Marketplace search. We're sharing a few key updates from the full list our clients get in real-time.

Bonus: Partner1's Microsoft Marketplace Assessment helps you benchmark your current marketplace motion against Microsoft's FY27 framework in seconds!

REMINDER: SEPTEMBER 30: Tiered M365 E5 CSP discounts expire in 16 days: speed up your E5 upsell conversations before the end of the month, as tiered CSP discounts for Microsoft 365 E5 end on September 30th, 2026.

REMINDER: OCTOBER 13: Windows 10 ESU bill triples for procrastinators: brief your customers now so that they're not surprised by Year 2 pricing tripling for Windows 10 Extended Security updates - or use this as an opportunity to finally have that Windows 11 and cloud PC migration get off the ground.

NOW: Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace rolls out, Marketplace search is AI-first, and PO management and spend mapping are GA: Remember, Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace is a unified offering for Microsoft partners across ISV Success, Marketplace Rewards, and Azure IP co-sell. Intelligent discovery is live in Microsoft Marketplace, which means that customers can describe what they're looking for and get recommendations and side-by-side comparisons. Also, long-awaited purchase order management and spend mapping is finally generally available, which takes care of a major procurement issue and allows customers to tie marketplace purchases to POs, cost centers, and business units. Finance teams, celebrate!

COMING UP: OCTOBER 13: Usage-based Copilot billing and FinOps practice management move to center stage Microsoft is preparing partners for a world where Copilot revenue is metered, (not per-seat), and where customers will expect their partner to govern AI consumption the way they govern their Azure spend. Partners with a FinOps-for-AI point of view early will be the ones trusted with bigger agent deployments.

The big picture

Microsoft continues to streamline program pathways while raising the bar for accessing the highest tiers of incentives and benefits. There were a lot of Marketplace related announcements last week, including AI-centric search and streamlining procurement through PO management and spend mapping both being generally available. Copilot governance and FinOps practice management will become more and more important for solutions partners that are focusing on Copilot adoption.

Take the Microsoft Marketplace Assessment to ensure your business is FY27-optimized and you're not leaving a single opportunity on the table.
